Why Servy, why?

cyclops

One of these days maybe this glitch will come in handy and I can use it for some kind of nightmare sequence but unfortunately there's no place for that in the next chapter!

Cyclops! D:
Ugh, I've had that happen to a servo before, it's so annoying >< Did you find a way to fix it?

[identity profile] skellington7d.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
I did it before once by turning him into a townie but it's not working this time. I have some Servo doubles I can use, but I'm kind of attached to this one. :(

[identity profile] nepheris.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 08:14 am (UTC)(link)
That really sucks =/ If you have a servo in the same 'hood, try SimSurgery with the non-freaky servo as a template? Maybe that could fix the face.

[identity profile] skellington7d.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
The one time I managed to fix it was after I already created another Servo to replace to creepy masked one and gone to the trouble of moving him out and everything. Then suddenly the original was fine! I have no idea how to replicate what I did, though.

If you try that, do back the hood up before you do just in case it messes up something else/more.

Yikes! Nightmarish, indeed.

I must say, I love your icon. It's perfect for this glitch.

Haha, thanks! It does come in handy for expressing shock and horror. It was drawn by [livejournal.com profile] leskuh, possibly in reaction to Pescado's baby BBQ when it first came out, if I recall correctly.

I'll admit part of my horror comes from it being face 2, like every other guy in Pleasantview. Couldn't it have been a less overused template? ;)

I was going to crawl into bed but I'm having second thoughts now.

Gah! I hope you get it fixed... Poor Servy!

Haha, oh wow.

Buh, I've seen servos do that a lot, but no idea how to fix it. (seems like it happens mostly when changing to formal wear) Did you try reseting? Or moving the servo out of the lot, or sending him to a comm lot, or maybe even delete him so it resets somehow?

(honestly I love servos, but got bored of their appearance pretty fast, so now I tend to change them into more sim looks, just with a lot of CC so they look different from other sims, but haven't seen this problem in my game in a long time because of that)

[identity profile] silenzii.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought this happens when servo changes to formal wear? And then if you change the clothes back to everyday is fixed?
I mean, is not a game bug but a game "feature"? (EAxis and their weird sense of humor).

[identity profile] skellington7d.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
It does usually happen with the formalwear but it's still a glitch.

[identity profile] silenzii.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
In the EA site at my country, they say that this is normal. There is a description saying that servo wears a human mask when in formal wear to pretend that he/she is human.
I don't think is a glitch, I think EA made this on purpose.

[identity profile] skellington7d.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
But most people don't have this in their game, and I've seen him with a normal head in formalwear (http://pics.livejournal.com/skellington7d/pic/0001rp18) before. Plus, he's now stuck this way even when he changes back to casual wear. The Servo head is actually just a "hair" file with an invisible face, and this is a glitch that causes the default face textures to show up. If it was meant to be a mask his jaw and eye wouldn't be clipping through like that.

That's weird about the EA site though. Sounds like they were making an excuse for the glitch.

[identity profile] silenzii.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
That's new to me! I always saw the servo with human face when in formal (but I can't talk too much because I don't use default servos, I clone their appearance from robots-sims so they look like droids).
Naughty EA. Always inventing lame excuses.

[identity profile] skellington7d.livejournal.com 2011-06-13 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
I figured out how to fix it, yay! I just turned him into a witch and back again. :D

Congratulations!
I'm glad it worked!
